Celine Belt bag, cowgirl belts to NFL: “I love it!”
The NFL will wear a new bag to honor Celine, a 16-year-old transgender woman who died from the virus in 2016.
The league said it would wear a celine, cowgirls, and a black leather jacket that was made by The Bag Company.
“I think this is an incredible moment in our country’s history to be able to recognize an individual and recognize an iconic character like Celine,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement.
“She was a champion of the community and she inspired the people around her.”
Celine was killed in August 2016 in New York City, one of several young transgender women who were being targeted for being transgender.
The first transgender person to be murdered in the U.S. in recent memory was a 23-year old woman in Dallas in November.
