New Star Boxing Promotions stars Orion’s Belt stars: Stars are getting their belts, and they’re ready to fight for them
New Star is the first promotion in the heavyweight division to announce the winners of its two new titles, a new star belt and a new title for its youngest star, according to its vice president of sports marketing, Ryan Toney.
Stars are getting theirs, Toney told MMAFighting.com in an interview Monday.
Toney said the new belts are for stars in their mid-20s, who will be competing in the lightweight division and the lightweight belt will be for stars aged 19-20.
Both belts will be available for purchase for $150 and the stars will be paid $5,000 for each victory.
Toney said stars are encouraged to get in touch with the promotion, as they will be the first in the industry to receive a belt in exchange for their services.
A star belt, also called a superfight belt, is an extra belt for a fighter who wins a match in the first round.
They are awarded for wins in both the first and second rounds and are awarded in the middle of a fight.
Stars who have won a supercard title will be eligible for a new belt in the future, Tanyo said.
Stars in the 170-pound division can earn their belts in the event they are promoted to the heavyweight title by Toney and his new promotion, which has its first title fight on Feb. 17.
Tanyos promotion has also announced the signing of new fighters, including former UFC fighters Nick Diaz and Dustin Poirier.
