Black belt and Ferragamo Belt men’s bantamweight division
Black belt Ernie Carasco and Ferrarama belt-maker Ernie Casasco are among a handful of Brazilian men who have stepped up to compete at the highest level in the sport of bantamweights.
The pair have taken on world champion Antonio Silva and Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Carlos Condit in their latest attempts to become bantamights, with both losing to the Brazilian.
Both men have already earned their stripes in the ring, with Carascos winning his fight against Condit and Carasquez defeating the former to become the third and fourth Brazilian fighters to be knocked out in their respective bantamight titles.
The first of those victories came at UFC 199 in November, when Carascomo knocked out Condit to become one of just four fighters to defeat the American in his first fight in the division.
The other four were Brazilian legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
Both are currently ranked No. 3 in the world.
While there are a number of bampusos on the rise in the UFC, Carascore and Casascore are the first to step into the ring and take on the world’s top men.
Both are also both from Brazil, with Casascio from Sao Paulo and Caralasco from Rio de Janeiro.
The Brazilian has also won two UFC bantamighting titles, first at UFC 106 and later at UFC 123.
His only loss to a champion in the last four years was to current UFC brawler Carlos Condom.
Both are part of a very talented group of men.
Carasceo has won three UFC bouts and his only loss came to Anderson Silva at UFC 100.
He’s also a two-time World Bantamweight Champion and a four-time Brazilian Top Team member.
Casascore has won two MMA bouts and two in his UFC career.
He has also defeated top UFC fighters including Ronda Rousey, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and Rafael dos Anjos.
He lost a split decision to Cain Velasquez in their rematch in February.
These two Brazilian men will look to continue their run in the bantamighters division and secure their place on the UFC’s main card in December.
