GOP’s Trump-backing super PAC wants to target Dems in 2020 primary
The super PAC of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is targeting Democrats in 2020.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) on Tuesday announced a $1 million ad buy in Ohio that will target Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in his reelection bid.
NRCC Chairman Michael Capuano said Brown will be a “strong, effective voice for the middle class.”
The ad buys come as the NRCC is on the defensive as it tries to fend off a barrage of negative ads from the Trump-backed Republican super PAC American Crossroads.
Its ads have attacked Brown for his opposition to Trumpcare and for opposing President Donald Trump’s budget plan.
Brown’s campaign has also said that he has “repeatedly” voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
He is the third Senate Democratic incumbent to face a challenge from Trump, after Sens.
Joe Manchin and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota.
